First day of (big) school

Tuesday the 4th of February 2010 was another landmark for young Lucas, being the first day of primary school. He proudly donned his new school uniform (photos attached), and toddled off to his first day at Sandringham East Primary without a fuss.

Lucky for him, a couple of mates from his childcare in Tulip St are attending as well, so he's got a few familiar faces to help him settle in. Regardless, he reported that he had a great time, and the teacher, Ms Anderson, was very friendly.

First day was a little easy - they got let out at 11am. Today (Thursday) was his first full day, and he seems unscathed, but VERY tired. We'll see how he goes tomorrow, and, I suppose, for the next few years...

*sniff* My little boy is growing up...

Crazy kids

There must be something about sitting inside a plastic box that drives our kids crazy. The evidence is all too damning. Dr Lewis was called in to analyse the problem, but was unable to help.

PS. We're currently shacked up in alternate accommodation (our renovations have finally started - yay!), and the internet connection here is rather appalling in terms of speed. There are a lot of photos to post, but it might have to wait a bit before I do a big dump. In the meantime, I'll report on crucial current events only.

Christmas (and birthdays) in Tassie!

This year, the Melbourne branch of bird.com.au spent the Christmas down in Tassie, as well as celebrating quite a few birthdays that occur around this time. An auspicious occasion, as all of Daddy's siblings (as well as their families) were there as well.

Crowded? Quite possibly...

Fun? Absolutely - just look at the proof!

Scooter girl

Another attempt at movie publishing, we'll see how this goes...

Alicia had an absolute ball down in Tassie (see photos above), but possibly her highlight was zooming around on a hand-me-down electric scooter from Bella Degetto. Here's a small sample of her driving skills...

Christmas preparations

Even though the Melbourne branch of the Bird family was spending their Christmas in Launceston this year, Lucas and Alicia were still quite keen to put up and decorate a tree.

Dad and Mum were quite chuffed with the kids' festive spirit. And the kids were quite chuffed in return, because when we got back home from our Christmas holiday in Tassie, we discovered that Santa had made an extra trip and dumped even MORE presents under the aforementioned tree! Cha-ching!

The Dynamic Duo!

Behold: Bat Boy and Ghost-Girl! No criminal is safe now.

Sadly, Bat Boy might need to think about firing his costume team, who really let him down, mainly in the bat-ears department...

Half moon bay

Some shots of a short trip to Half-Moon Bay, one of five beaches that are well within our reach down here in Melbourne. As for Lucas' outfit, his poor Dad can only hope that it's just a phase he's going though...
